Our Home Sweet Home

Front View of House
Since our engagement, we had been praying that God would lead us to where He wanted us to live. Knowing the blessings of country living, besides having a nature ministry, we ruled out all town houses or housing communities. We fervently prayed for a quiet cabin in the woods, with acres to roam on, trails nearby to hike on, and places for nature photography close by. We searched for many months, and wondered what God had in mind. It seemed as though the doors were closing on all sides and nothing was working out! But then, when we were almost ready to give up our search, God sent a friend who knew someone with a house for sale. Yes, you guessed it--this was the place!

Another View of House

Our rustic hemlock cabin is constructed of rough lumber. With trees all around, the few neighbors we do have are completely hidden from view. Though it's over 20 years old, it has a newer addition and remodeled interior, so you would hardly know it was an old house!

Winter View of House

Here's what our place looks like in the winter when there is snow on the ground!

Highway drive towards our place

Driving down the highway toward our place, here is one of the closest towns to us--the metropolis of Parkers Lake! (Don't worry, there's a larger town a few miles further.)

Mountains along highway

The camera never does a beautiful view justice, but if you come visit us, you'll be sure to see a few of these ridges along your way. Here they are--all decked out in fall colors!

Highway

Now you are on a little windy highway that will take you to our road. Watch for the corners!

Our little road

You are now on a narrow road--just big enough to squeeze past an on-coming car if it's a small one. (If you see a car, head for the ditch, if you see a truck--back up until you can get off the road!) We're just thankful it's paved!

View from our road

Here is the view from a neighbors' driveway, not too far away.

Fall view from our property

You're on our little private road now, only shared by our house and three other neighbors. This picture is a view from our property, just up the hill from our house! (Photo taken in the fall)

Spring view from our property

Here's the same view--in the spring/summer when it's green.

Driveway

Here's the driveway--our mailbox is that little dot at the bottom of the hill, and you can see our house hiding in the trees just beyond it. We are blessed with asphalt and county road right to our mailbox! God is good. :)

Garage

This is our unfinished garage, located just behind our house. (That boat is not ours--it is STILL waiting to be hauled away by its owner!)

Garage

Here's Daniel clearing out a spot for one of our little garden plots in the backyard. We're working on building up the soil right now and hope to have two small garden plots and a flower bed going in the next year or so!

Trail through the woods

While we're still outside, let's take a short walk through the woods on one of our trails!

Clearing in trees

Here's one of our little clearings... We hope to make one of them into a campfire pit with log benches for Sabbath evening vespers. Maybe you can join us sometime!
