Leaving our "kids" behind at home, we headed out Thursday morning for the Smoky Mountains. This was our first glimpse along the way. :)
As we got closer, we drove along this beautiful river.
We got to Gatlinburg just in time for a picnic lunch before the sun disappeared. The weather was cool, but it was special!
View of the creek flowing by our picnic table at the park.
Daniel doing a bit of exploring before we headed to our cabin.
The bridge at the city park entrance.
Golf course we drove through to get to our cabin.
Back view of cabin from the road.
Front view of cabin. It was so quiet and peaceful out there, with a creek running right past us!
View inside from the front door.
The living room--also from the front door.
Looking up from the front door at the loft.
Closer view of the fully-equipped kitchen. Master bedroom door is on the right.
Looking at the dining room table and propane fireplace from the kitchen.
View of master bedroom, closet and bathroom from doorway.
Looking back from bathroom door.
Upstairs in the loft was a large pool table. We used it as our puzzle table! :)
Our first breakfast--Friday morning--strawberry shortcake!
After breakfast, we took a scenic drive. The weather was nice, but the rain was supposed to block us in for the rest of the weekend. We wanted to see it before the clouds came!
Climbing up in the Smokies towards Newfound Gap.
