Trip to NE, Weddings, Hikes
Page 1 Page 2 Show AllHere's the family we stayed with that weekend. They lived right near a peach orchard, so on Sunday, Daniel and I went with them to pick several bushels of peaches! Guess what we did on Monday?
A church member gave us a bunch of her pickling cucumbers, so we also made pickles that week! 18 pints and 7 quarts of pickles!
Soon corn season started and we spent two days freezing 24 quarts of cut corn! Here Daniel is taking a needed break after shucking a large pile of corn.
The next weekend found us down in Chattanooga for a friends wedding. So we came down early and spent some time with Daniel's brother, Timothy.
Our friends, Jonathan and Lindsey, had a beautiful wedding! We had so much fun helping in the kitchen all day getting the food ready too!
Daniel's parents gave us their old riding lawn mower. Can't wait until we get it fixed so we can start using it! We have a big yard and Daniel had to push-mow it all summer!
Two friends, Katherine and Siobhan came to visit us the next Sabbath, and we took them to Blue Heron Coal Mining Camp for a hike. When we got there, this is what we saw from the Coal Tipple bridge. We decided to hike anyway....
The end of July brought on tomato season! Our local farmers had these for $6 per box, so we ate LOTS of tomatoes this summer!
We did 36 quarts of whole tomatoes, 12 quarts crushed tomatoes, 6 quarts of salsa, and 7 quarts of green beans!
Bringing home a big bookcase so we could unpack the rest of our books. We don't have a pickup, so this car is our "truck!"
