Canoeing, Camping at Laurel Lake, Aunt Rosie's wedding.

Second week of September found us on a new adventure--a four day canoe camping trip on Laurel Lake (about an hour from our home). Our friends Ernie and Amber came with us and we had a blast!
Ernie and Amber trying to learn how to steer the canoe, and keep their dog, Nellie, from tipping them over!
We arrived at our campsite, unloaded our canoes, and heard a low rumble of thunder in the distance! We quickly put up our tents, threw our sleeping bags inside, closed all the containers, and dove in just as it began to pour buckets! (Looking from the tent window)
We watched the rain from this little window for over an hour. Then we realized that we were floating in a puddle of water! Our tent pad had no drainage! Daniel went out and dug a trench around our tent, and then we were fine. At least we stayed dry!
The next morning, it was sprinkling off and on, but not enough to keep us from exploring! We got into our canoes and set off to see what we could find. (Note the rain in the distance.)
Nellie couldn't take it any longer, she jumped into the water and started swimming to Amber! She was rescued and put back into the canoe, much to her relief!
