Monday we headed on a farther drive -- out to Cumberland Gap National Park. This was the view of the morning sun from our neighbor's house.
Here's a morning mountain view from Highway 90, just a few miles down the road.
Look at the fog rising from the hollers!

Panorama shot of the entire valley. You are looking at Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Old cannon from the civil war.
Replica of an old-time settler cabin and yard.
Deer grazing in the field just behind the little cabin.
Our first glimpse of White Rocks, the ridge we were about to climb.
Closer view of White Rocks, as we neared the trailead. There was about a 2,000 ft elevation climb and the trail was almost entirely switchbacks. It was about 9 miles total round trip.
Part of the trail up to White Rocks.
The fall colors were beautiful!
But the climb was tough for Kristina!

The view was TOTALLY worth it all!
