Moving
Trucking Across the Continent
Page 1 Page 2 Show AllWe had a week at home before starting the packing process. Traveled to a funeral in Brewster, WA, met with our photographers for an outdoor photo session, and took care of legal stuff. Then we started packing in earnest!
That basically gave us only a couple days to pack. The day we had to load the truck, much of the boxes still needed to be packed. Praise God, help came! Northport church members banded together for a whole day to help!
Discovering His Treasures ministry had lots to move, plus all Kristina's things, wedding gifts, and furniture given to us by family members and friends. Northport church even gave us an old small half-size organ!
Many hands packed boxes as fast as possible, while Kristina sorted stuff out of different rooms of the house, making sure nothing got left behind.
Wedding decorations and supplies had to be gone through and sorted, deciding what to keep, what to give away, and what to toss. It would have been easier to pack the whole house, compared to all the sorting we had to do that day!
At last, we hit the road! Drove to Kettle Falls to say goodbye to Kristina's parents, then to Inchelium to get our photos from Tony and Sylvia.
Leaving Inchelium, we crossed the Ferry and headed towards Kristina's old home in Addy. The whole Ferry shifted weight when we pulled onto it!
After exploring Kristina's old place in Addy for a bit, we headed on to Spokane to tell Erick goodbye. We were planning to spend the night in a motel, but the weather forecast predicted a huge blizzard right behind us!
47 hours after we left Kristina's home in Washington, we arrived in Lincoln, NE at Kristina's Aunt Rosie's house.
We had been chased by the blizzard the entire way, and drove non-stop, switching drivers every 6 hours. Only by God's grace and protection, did we make it safely there! We spent the weekend in Lincoln, and headed out Sunday afternoon.
The blizzard had passed us during the weekend, leaving snow and ice in Missouri. But we waited long enough Sunday to start out, and the roads were clear. PTL! We arrived at our house in KY Monday morning, at 9am, after driving all night.
Daniel's brother Andrew arrived a few hours later to help us start unloading the truck. Here's what it looked like inside!
Tuesday morning, Daniel's parents and a couple church members came over and helped us finish unloading everything and clean the kitchen cupboards. What a blessing to have their help!
