More hiking with Levi

We drove back home during a torrential rainstorm that caused major flooding all over KY and TN. The next morning we heard what sounding like thunder from across the holler...
And discovered it was Cumberland Falls in full flood! Want to go down the stairs?

You can watch the water boil and seethe.
It was a beautiful day for photos! Since Pastor and Mrs McComb were visiting us, we decided to hike around and see what the other water falls looked like.
Levi and Daniel explored a little falls right near the trail area.
Then we headed down the trail towards Eagle Falls, wondering if we could get there.
Here's where the trail went under water...
After trail-blazing up the bank, we managed to find the trail again. This is looking back.

Full view of the flooded river. Pretty impressive! This river goes all the way to Nashville... now you know why they flooded so badly (they had all this besides all the rain they got)!

We got to the end of the trail and found the stairs going right into the water...
We took a higher trail and made our way to the top of the falls. Talk about a lot of water coming over that little falls!

The little creek that we normally can hop across to the other side... is a raging stream!

On Friday we did our third health fair for the year--this time the diabetes fair in Somerset! We had a group from the church in Somerset come and help, which was a real blessing. Here Daniel is doing a consultation with someone about their health age.
We did blood pressure checks, body fat ratio, lung capacity test, and health age, besides literature free and for sale.
We ended up giving out over 950 pieces of literature by the end of the day, over 100 health age tests, and saw close to 500 people! God is good. :) It was so much fun to help our community!
The next week found us back hiking again at Yahoo Falls.
We just had to take a few more shots of the falls.
First time we've gone further down the creek to get a far-away shot of the entire falls.
So pretty with the new spring leaves on the trees!

The next Sabbath found us hiking to Natural Arch in a rainstorm. Thankfully we were under the arch during most of the rain, so we didn't get too wet.

Justina came to visit us for a day--was such a treat to go sight-seeing with her!

We spent an evening biking, after Daniel got home from work. Here we are biking across Moonbow Bridge.

The last bits of sunshine disappeared as we loaded our bikes and headed back home.
Strawberry picking and freezing was a lot of fun this year! We did two days of picking and freezing and ended up with a nice supply. So thankful for Susan's help picking and Justina's help cutting!
The berries at the Wilson Cedar Point Farm were HUGE, juicy and VERY sweet too! Best strawberries ever.
The irises blooming in the backyard brought lots of cheer to our dining room table.
The next Sabbath found us hiking to Eagle Falls again!
The water had greatly receeded though, and we were able to walk the whole trail with a large group of friends from Somerset.

A black snake who lives in our yard--eating all the mice and poisonous snakes.
Claws happened to see him slithering through the grass...
The poor snake wasn't sure what to think of this black furry creature stalking him!
Fortunately (for both), Kristina commanded the cat to stay away, and she reluctantly let the snake go away into hiding.

We picked 8 gallons a week from this little row during it's prime, and 2 gallons a week during the slow time. God is good!

We made a quick trip to Arkansas and back to pick up Elisabeth (20 hr of driving total in one day!) Here's a couple pictures we took along the way.
Daniel's parents treated all of us to a train ride on the Big South Fork Scenic Railway! Was a beautiful ride!

We hiked around for about 1.5 hours before the train took us back to our car.
Back on the train again... Elisabeth was tired!
There's a raw tunnel just up ahead, right through a coal seam.

On Sabbath we hiked out to Dog-Slaughter Falls again, to see the wildflowers, and because there would be water to cool off at the end of the trail.
We stopped along the way to take photos.
The scenery was tranquil and so beautiful!

Definitely less water than a few weeks ago!
Kristina and Elisabeth enjoyed watching the others splash around in the creek.
