Kristina and Elisabeth playing in the kitchen... producing plaintain-cranberry cookies! Yummy!!
Levi working on homework.
Daniel fixing Elisabeth's laptop (and YES, it worked after he was done!)
Elisabeth enjoying the swing.
The first sprouts of green beans in the summer garden.
The Yucca Plants in full bloom--this year we had the right amount of rain and sunshine...
All the yucca plants in the whole area bloomed! They were so beautiful!
Another bonfire in our woods--made for a fun picnic in our own backyard!
Elisabeth playing with her new camera.
Driving down to Tennessee to take Danielle to Kristina B's house. They both left for India the next day.
Kristina B's mother treating us with sweet music! She's a miracle worker with those keys!
Enjoying our last moments of time together with two special girls.
Sisters in Christ!
View from Kristina B's backyard.
The two Kristinas geting their last moments of talking in.
Another cooking class--this one in Somerset. Daniel doing a talk on cabbage.
This month's theme is garden vegetables. (We do one class a month in two different locations, but don't always take photos)
During the class.
Kristina demonstrating Vegetable Pasta Sauce--mostly vegetables with a little bit of sauce.
Back at home, Kristina played around with making baked spring rolls with wheat wraps.
Rolling up the spring roll.
Elisabeth helped her roll some of them, and they ended up with 50 rolls!
Served them with steamed artichokes... and amazingly there were NO leftovers of anything! Yummy....
An artichoke ready to eat. Love the flower!
Some of the noodle/vegetable mixture we put in the spring rolls.
Fresh tomato-cucumber salad.
On Sabbath we had a house-full of company, and since it was SO hot, we decided Eagle Falls would be the coolest place to hike.
Hiking up some of the stairs. (Eagle Falls trail has LOTS of those).
Titus being a monkey, as usual.
Levi spending time with his favorite dog, Baxter, who was able to come visit too.
More of the trail.
Baxter did NOT want to go down the staircase! (He finally took his own route down the slope)
Kristina, Chelsey and Elisabeth headed straight for the trail behind the falls to cool off!
Kristina cooling off in the mist under the falls. SO refreshing when it's in the 90's outside!
Elisabeth taking her turn under the mist.
Our whole group (3/4 of them spent the night at our house!)
Levi and Baxter.
Levi went to summer camp for a week, so Daniel and Kristina took advantage of their break and went camping with Israel and Kyla for two days.
Since it was Kyla's birthday and nearly Kristina's birthday, we went out to Olive Garden for a special treat.
The day after we got back was a cooking class, and the following day, we went blueberry and raspberry picking with Susan and Anton (sorry, no pictures). Here was our breakfast the next morning... Mmmmmmm!
Kristina also experimented with gluten-free plantain-blueberry cookies--a total success! No leavening, no oil, and the lightest, fluffiest cookie you ever ate!
We also took a day for some "we-time". Daniel and I found a quiet little spot on the river near our place, and spent an afternoon swimming and resting in the peace and quiet without a soul in sight!
This was our view for the afternoon. The only sounds were the river gently flowing by and the birds singing. Such bliss! The water was warm and the air was hot--perfect for swimming. :)
It was an afternoon worthwhile spent--can't wait to do it again sometime!
That "sometime" happened again a few days later! It's been unusually hot here and hiking this week was out of the question. So how do you get exercise when it's hot? Take a picnic supper and head to the river!
Here's a tomato horn worm we found along the way (he rests in peace now).
The water was clearer and calmer than last Thursday, so we had fun jumping in and seeing how big of splashes we could make!
Daniel swimming in the picturesque river--Big South Fork.
SPLASH!
The area was so beautiful--I could look at the scenery all day long!
Back at home... here's how much our summer garden has grown! Can't wait until we get some squash and green beans!
Here's some of the flowers we planted from seed this spring in pots. :)
This is the front flower bed which has been turned into a tomato garden. The marigolds in front were planted from seed, and will be blooming soon!
Here's our shade flower garden--the prettiest one by far! All those impatients were started off two little plants someone gave me last summer! (And more are in the house ready to plant soon).
And here's another look at the backyard gardens. Gives you an idea of where things are. :)
