The end of June and beginning of July found us down in Atlanta, Georgia, for the General Conference Session--for 1.5 weeks!
The city lights were unique in the miles of traffic after the evening meeting on Friday night!
Sabbath morning, traffic wasn't any better.
Our first glimpse of one of the buildings at the GC!
Sabbath morning, Kristina was one of the speakers for Primary Sabbath School.
It was so nice to see cousins Rick and Marcia and their children there!
Marcia leading out
They had fun experiments, stories and activities.
Kristina doing a nature lesson at the end.
We had nearly 300 children both Sabbaths!
Some missionary friends in Thailand shared a mission story.
Levi had fun taking pictures all during the GC.
Our first glimpse of Micaiah. Was so nice to see John and Lisa again!
Main meeting hall crowded with people. It was estimated at around 70,000 by the second weekend!
Daniel listening to the church service.
He was a bit tired....
We were thankful to find a quiet corner on the third floor to eat our lunch each day.
Looking down...
Sometimes there were a few people in the halls
And sometimes it was more crowded. (It got worse later though)
Kristina headed to work in the exhibit area.
We had permission to advertise Discovering His Treasures ministry, but since we didn't have our own booth, Feeding His Lambs let us use theirs if we helped them.
John and Eugene working the booth.
Daniel passing out our beautiful Discovering His Treasures tri-fold fliers. (If you want one, contact us!)
Kristina working the Feeding His Lambs booth. It was a lot of work, but so much fun!
View straight ahead, while standing at our booth.
View to the right--we were right next to Southern Union booth, so it was nice to talk with them during our lulls in traffic.
View to the left. That was Spectrum's booth on that side of us.
Every day, we drove nearly an hour each way to our lodging. We had a full car--Levi, Elisabeth, and Chelsey all came with us!
During the week, Levi had fun exploring the booth areas with Chelsey. Here he's going up the climbing wall.
He made it!
Daniel had to take a break once and try it too. :)
Levi playing with an interactive wall.
Trying on a Turkish hat!
Some musicians from Bolivia serenaded us with beautiful music along one of the aisles.
For my birthday, Daniel and I took a few hours to check out the booths. It was nice to see our friend Kristina pictured at one of them!
Taking photos....
of Daniel trying out the Bolivian pipes!
The Sanctuary replica was set up there, so they had tours going on all week. Levi enjoyed that!
Lunch break with John and Lisa.
Chelsey and Elisabeth taking photos
It was always nice to take a break for lunch--our only chance to sit down!
The second Sabbath, we got to see Ryan and Alina and Scott and Chantel! That was a treat :)
Ryan and Kristina goofing off--Kristina stole his hat!
One of the few pictures we got of us together--we were so busy!
Here's what the halls looked like the last weekend. Poor Daniel was at one of those booths on the left, trying to keep from getting trampled!
On our way home, 4th of July, we got to stop in Knoxville and see some firework displays!
The weather was SO hot this summer at home, that we went swimming a lot!
Elisabeth also enjoyed hiking with us at Yahoo Falls too :)
Looking straight down the falls... (don't worry, she had her arms WAY out, not her head!)
Kristina took Elisabeth to see Cumberland falls, so here's another summer shot. :)
Beautiful and clear water too!
We had a belated Fourth of July party with Daniel's parents.
Dad and Andrew roasting veggie dogs
July was a full month! Levi went back home, so Daniel and I had a week to can peaches, green beans, and freeze corn!
These are the peaches... the rest we didn't get photos of.
We didn't get photos of the VBS we did in Campbellsvile, but here's a few photos of our Kids Cooking Kollege.
We had 23 kids 3 hrs a day for 5 days straight!
The local community college asked us to do it, and it was fun working with them!
And during the class, Lucas arrived from Austria! He'll be with us until June.
Anton having fun making his own pizza.
Smile, Kristina!
The kids really enjoyed the food...
Susan with her camera...
And they loved the crafts too!
Lucas' first hiking expedition in the USA... to Yahoo Falls!
Daniel and Kristina's "old fashioned photo" at Yahoo Falls overlook :)
Never can get tired of that view!
It was a HOT day, so we had fun cooling off at the bottom of the falls.
Daniel's turn
Lucas didn't want to get wet though...
Yahoo Falls from a distance.
Isn't he cute?? Ok... maybe not, but sure is brightly colored!
