Another hike--this time to Dog-Slaughter Falls. It's hard to believe it is winter--with all the evergreen rhododendron and mountain laurel bushes lining the trail. Everything was green!
A beaver had been on the trail minutes before we arrived on the scene. Those wood chips were VERY freshly chopped!
Ever seen icicles hanging off green leaves?
Dog Slaughter Falls--our destination. Daniel is walking behind the falls.
Lucas, Alex, David, and Daniel climbing around. :)
David enjoying some alone time behind the falls.
The creek flowing through the holler.
Lucas exploring the falls.
Ever know the feeling of being suspended in air?
Lucas and Alex hanging out, speaking to each other in German. :)
Daniel testing his balancing skills.
Parting view of the falls as we headed back.
At home, we finally got our first two birdfeeders hung in our tree, right outside our desk window. (Thanks to Daniel's parents for giving us their old ones.) Here's the view from Kristina's desk.
Closer view of the feeders.
A week later, it snowed again! The birds were very happy for something to eat. :)
A week later, we took another cold, sunny day hike out to Buzzard Rock. Daniel's parents were with us too...
Can never get tired of the view!
The Klingbeil family were with us, too! The girls enjoyed exploring around on the boulders.
Lucas and Alex contemplating where they should try climbing around next.
Off go the adventurous boys.
Daniel's Mom getting some sunshine on her face.
Lucas--King of the mountain.
Alex, king of the other mountain.
Daniel entertaining the girls.
Siobhan enjoying her little rock corner too.
Daniel's Valentine's flowers.
Our indoor greenhouse is growing and the flowers are so cheery! Tomato seeds and more flowers are planted on the top shelf.
This is what our dining room looks like after a cooking class...
The owner finally came and got his old boat, so Daniel and David decided to smooth out the ground. They didn't have a box scraper, so they invented one.....
Box scraper at work!
Another hike! This time with Daniel's parents and a whole group from Somerset, out to Blue Heron Coal Mining Camp and overlook. Here, Kristina B. talks with Daniel and his parents.
View from the overlook.
