We spent the night with Jerryn and Janice before heading back home from Southern. Kristina and Janice hadn't seen each other in over 12 years!
The garden is now being picked every week. So nice to have fresh vegetables!
Kristina had fun babysitting Klingbeil's girls for a few hours while Tammy ran errands.
Tammy brought us a BIG load of sawdust to help our garden! We're SO happy! Now, if the garden spot will dry out enough so we can work it in....
Our health fairs were a lot of fun this year. The diabetes fair in Somerset was the Beach theme, so we had fun with decorations.
We did health-age surveys, blood pressure checks, served 11 quarts of lentil stew, and passed out health literature. We had around 500 people come through!
Paige and Raquel during a lull in traffic
A very fun-looking truck we followed down the road--it has all different parts put together!
We took a Sabbath afternoon hike along the Cumberland River. Mountain Laurel are blooming already!
Mountain Laurel Bush
This stump looks like it was hollowed out by lightening...
but if you keep following it up, the tree is still alive!
We found a little tiny waterfall along the trail, but we heard more coming from up the hill, so we followed the creek...
There was our first glimpse of the next one...
It was a bit bigger...
But we thought we saw a bigger one further up the creek....
It WAS bigger! There's Lucas standing at the bottom of it.
SO pretty down there--wish we knew the name of this falls!
Wintergreen leaves--smell SO good!
Daniel enjoying the river...
It's strawberry time! Kristina, Daniel, and David froze 84 quarts this year. Hope that is enough to keep up with all our cooking classes and company!
They sure are yummy....
Claws has decided that the sawdust pile makes a perfect bed... as well as a playground (depending on what mood she's in)
Don't bother me..... I'm comfortable!
Blackberry winter is in full swing... here's the proof!
The johnny-jump-ups are really enjoying the flowerbed.
We spent a weekend in Nashville as speakers for another Evangelism Summit. Here someone is leading song service, while David Hartman and Olin McGraw get the computer set up for Church.
The iris' are blooming!
Strawberry Jam time.... Kristina had never made that before, so she had fun experimenting.
12 pints of total success! Yummy.....
Our "pet" black snake (the one who lives under our house) shed his skin in the tree outside our bedroom window.
Busy Bee landing on a marigold
A very large moth on our back door one evening.
Guess what! Those little twigs of wild roses that we planted last month....... are blooming! :D
The garden is still growing nicely! We haven't had to buy any lettuce or greens for over a month now! :)
Kristina picking several gallons of lettuce from our little patch. God has really blessed it!
Yucca plant blooming in our front yard.
Yucca flowers are so pretty!
Beautiful sunny Sabbath at church.
Our church sign
David doing some Bible reading in the car...
Kristina headed to the car so we can go home!
Sabbath afternoon picnic in our front yard.
Claws stretching as close to the bowl as she can, while her nose twitches excitedly. Poor cat, she didn't get any...
Daniel enjoying a few moments of rest before we headed out for a hike.
Hiking through the woods: destination, Thunderstruck Shoals.
David enjoying the view.
We relaxed here for a while, just listening to the river rushing by, soaking up the sunshine, and cooling our feet in the water.
Daniel doing some serious relaxing...
While David stands by...
Don't worry--they didn't push him in! (Kristina wouldn't let them)
Lucas taking his turn to cool his feet.
Kristina enjoyed the shady view under a large overhanging rock.
Here was her view.
Daniel catching a photo of a sweat bee...
The bee was quite curious about the camera.
A very tiny green beetle also caught Daniel's eye...
and this strange-looking caterpillar
While Kristina found an empty dragonfly larvae shell
and a mud dauber's nest
A surprise photo...... lol
Kristina checking her email...
We've been WAY over-due at painting the house. Here's a reminder of how our house has been looking...
Daniel spent two days bleaching the siding to get rid of the mildew. Here it is, all ready for painting!
As soon as we had a few days in the forecast without rain (we've been waiting all spring for that to happen), we began to work!
Daniel removing the downspout so he could take the window shutter off.
Look at the difference!
The first day, we got the back side of the house done. The second day, we got an early start and plunged into painting full-force!
Kristina and Daniel took shifts--even for lunch!
Front porch and swing finished, now for the front face. Daniel's on the ladder.
Spraying away...
The worst side was the right side of the house. It's not real fun to be 15 feet in the air, trying to paint as far as your arms can reach!
Daniel and Kristina took turns on this side...
Project complete! We finished at 10:30pm that night, so had to wait until the next day to take photos. Here's the back side of the house.
And here's the front side of the house! Doesn't that look better now?
Lucas all ready for highschool graduation. We're proud of him for doing so well in school this year, but we are going to miss him as he heads back to Austria....
