Our garden FINALLY dried out! So Tammie brought her tiller over and helped us get all the aged sawdust tilled into the hard clay. Her girls played follow-the-leader behind her.
Nearly finished! Amazing transformation...
Garden complete--ready for planting (which we did the same evening!)
13 rows of greenbeans, 1 row of okra, and 2 hills of cucumbers all planted. :) Now... we'll see how they grow!
Luna moth on our bedroom window

Daniel in the tree and Kristina with the rake to beat the low branches.
Mulberries dropping on the tarp.
Collecting them for the bucket
Kristina picking out the bugs while Susan checks her phone...
There they are!
Back at home, Kristina sorted them, washed them, and made 4 pies and 17 pints of jam! Yummy....
Wild Rose
Lucas got to enjoy one more canoe trip with us before he headed back to Austria.
Canoeing down Fishing Creek with Daniel's parents.
We paddled mostly downstream, so it was smooth sailing.
A bird we saw along the shore.
There's a close-up of him!
He did some nice posing for the camera, too!
We saw lots of great blue heron.
It was a perfect day out!
Daniel stopping to cool off in the shallow water.
Mom and Dad bringing up the rear.
Another great blue heron.
There he goes!
The parkway bridge looming up ahead.
A turkey vulture checking out a dead turtle.
He was trying to tell us something...... I think we made him nervous.
Mom and Dad under the parkway bridge.
A bunch of swallows flew over our heads, eating the pesky bugs.
Mom found a turtle stranded on a rock outcropping. So she picked it up and gave it a ride to solid land.
He seemed VERY happy to crawl again!
We found a nice beach, unloaded the canoes, and jumped in! The water was like bathwater--unbelievably warm!
Daniel doing what he loves best--playing with the canoe.
Kristina floating lazily around. :)
There goes the canoe!
Kristina and Daniel sitting in a sunken canoe. Mom swimming over to help.
Dad paddling out to the rescue.
We had worked up a good appetite and picnic lunch we brought with us was scrumptious!
The canoes started floating away while we ate, but they didn't get too far. :) It was a great trip!
Daniel and Kristina spoke at a church in Lawrenceburg. This was taken during our afternoon nature activity.
It's amazing what things we can learn from God's creation!
Kristina & Danielle went down to the Museum of Appalachia to meet friends, Mike & Sarah & kids, and David & Heather. Too bad Daniel had to work!
It was rainy, but here's a quick look around outside.
An old batchlor's cabin.
Here's the girls!
George Burkhart raised a family of 6 kids in this hollow sycamore tree in Eastern Kentucky!
You can read his story here. :)
Here's the doctor's office and pharmacy!
Here's some of the more unusual instruments we saw there. Check out the toilet seat banjo and the cookie tin banjo and the gourd fiddle!
Some of their nicer instruments. :)
A beautiful quilt!
This calendar has every year from 1800 to 2054! Written on a piece of cardboard.
This church was built entirely out of match sticks! Amazing what you can do with so little!

The others had to leave early, so Danielle and Kristina stayed for a picnic lunch. The peacocks joined us too!
It was pouring rain, but the shelter kept us all dry.
Close-up of the peacock's tail feathers.
After lunch, the rain let up a bit so Danielle and Kristina went exploring again. Here's another cabin.
And some musicians who were playing on the cabin steps! We had a nice visit with them. :)
Danielle in front of the old barn and the haystack.
The barn has a VERY large overhang on all sides.
Back at home, we took another visit to Cumberland Falls. The water was clear and beautiful!

The garden still going strong.
The greenbeans coming along.
This is just one picking from that little salad garden!
Now that we've finally completed our master bedroom, we thought you'd like to see it. :)
And here's the guest room--back to pink now that Lucas has left.
The doorway curtain Kristina made for the living room. (Turns it into a spare bedroom with more privacy!)
Curtains completed in the living room
Brightens up the whole room!
The curtain in the chalk room really helps keep the heat out when the sun is shining.
A white moth hanging out in the bathroom.
Kristina's parents flew to Louisville for the ASDAO convention. Here's her Dad with the other optometrists who attended.
It was entertaining to watch all the photographers trying to keep track of all the cameras when they wanted the full group photo!
We spent an afternoon at the Louisville Zoo with Kristina's parents and Uncle John and his family. Here's a tapir.

Cute penguins ready for dinner.
What's taking you so long?
The birds in the bird sanctuary were very unique!
And colorful.
This one moved so fast, we tried for a LONG time before we caught his picture!
Some were really cute.
Some were just normal birds...
And some were just strange-looking!
Or scared looking, perhaps?
The snakes were neat, too!
Here's a nice close-up one! But we'll spare you the rest of the photos.....
Rainbow in the fountain.
Canada Goose keeping watch.
The Emus were so much fun to watch!
