Kristina made a quick trip to Washington to surprise her family and help with a wedding (see Claude and Christy's Wedding album for more pics).
It was nice being together as a family again, but it wasn't quite the same without Daniel there.
A nice one outdoors.
Outdoors with Grandma.
They decided to have a birthday party for the August, September, and October birthdays. Erick's was Blackberry Crisp.
Mother's was Carob Brownies.
Grandma's was Cherry Pie. Note: if you want to see the recipes, you can find them on our recipe website!
Cherry ice cream completed the meal, along with fruit salad and popcorn.
Mmmmm yummy!
Just wish Daniel could have been there to celebrate his October birthday too!
Kristina drove out to visit some friends, and really enjoyed the views along the Columbia river.
On her way back, she got to watch the sunset over the Columbia river. So pretty!
The beautiful view from a friends's home.
Flying back home over the Rocky Mountains.
Kristina taught a homemakers class on edible food art. Check out her food blog to find out the details of how she did each one.

Kristina, Daniel's Mother, and several friends from the area all went to Indian Creek Camp for Women's retreat. The dining room was beautifully decorated!

The weather was beautiful and crisp.

On their way back home, they stopped to take some neat pics of the lake.
And at the Center Hill Dam
The lake was so pretty reflecting the clear blue sky!

The full panorama.
Meanwhile, Daniel had company, too!
Levi spent the weekend with him, and the two more joined them for Sabbath dinner and the afternoon.
They took a hike to Dog Slaughter Falls.
It was a beautiful day to hike!

On Sunday morning, Daniel and Levi took a nice bike ride through the woods.
They did some serious mountain biking on these trails!

When Kristina and Siobhan came back from Women's retreat, we all headed out to the fire tower to meet the homemakers.
Our first view of the fire tower from the trail.
Levi was one of the first to head up the stairs.
The rest of us followed behind.

Our first glance inside the fire tower.
Small, cozy, but not much insulation up there. You either burn up or you freeze.
Cute little wood stove.
The map to chart the fires.
The old telephone.
Pam showing Levi how heavy telephones used to be.
The view outside was amazing!
The monarch butterflies are migrating through, and we saw hundreds of them landing for the night in the trees.
The sun began to set, so we all started taking pictures of the color on the horizon.
Yes, it was a camera war.... Lol
Siobhan
All too soon it was time to head back. Here Levi is trying out the hand pump for the well directly under the fire tower.
The moon came out before we got back to the car, and we hiked in the dark with flash lights.
The view from Daniels windshield on his way to work at his new job. He works in the IT department for the 10 county district health department.
A afternoon walk in our woods.
Flowers in our flower bed.
It's applesauce time again! We were so thankful for Siobhan's help cutting apples.
Kristina running the squeezo.
We got 48 quarts of applesauce done in one afternoon!
This is a bowl of Kristina's "cheese" soup. Yummy!

A neat mushroom in our yard.
We took Mark on a hike out to Buzzard Rock.

The moon came up full and clear, so when we finished, we jumped in the car and headed to Cumberland Falls to see the moonbow.
It was so pretty!
Perfect way to end a wonderful day!
